Founded in 1891, Wallasey Golf Club is the home of the Stableford scoring system. As the story goes, Dr. Frank Stableford, a member of the club, was frustrated while playing on a particularly windy day so he devised his new scoring system. To this day, it is used in many “club” events as a more enjoyable method of keeping score.
“I doubt whether any single man did more to increase the pleasure of the humble club golfer.”
Henry Longhurst

Absolutely beautiful par 3 12th hole – “Old Glory”

The tide really came in – compare this to a few shots back.

Final thoughts: Wallasey Golf Club was one of my favorite courses on the trip and is a must play if you are in the area.
